Harada Dali / Toor Dal For a Simple Meal

Harada Dali is very common in every house in odisha . In Odisha Rice is eaten during the lunch accompanied with the Dal, A green veggie known as saaga, badi chura(Dried lentil dumplings are fried and crushed with onion garlic and green chillies in a mortar and pestle).
Being vegetarian Dal is cooked almost evey day in our house and this is the way how I cook most of the time, very Simple yet very delicious.





Ingredients:
1 cup  Harada dali/unoily toor dal
3 cups water
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 TspTurmeric

For Tempering:
1 Tbsp Oil
1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
Pinch of Asafoetida
1 Onion chopped
Few Curry Leaves
2 Green Chillies Slit 
1 Tomatoes Chopped
Few Coriander leaves Chopped

Pressure cook Dal with Water , Salt and Turmeric.












Now for Tempering  take a kadai heat oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let it splutter. 
Now add Asafoetida,green chillies and curry leaves. Then add Onion and let it cook till it is slightly browned and then add chopped Tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes. Now pour the tempering to the dal and garnish with coriander leaves.
